King’s Day 2014 in Amsterdam

Well, Saturday was the big day. After Queen Beatrix abdicated last April 30, Willem-Alexander took the throne. Thus, Queen’s Day (celebrating the birthday of Queen Beatrix’s mother, Juliana), became King’s Day. And how perfect that King Willem-Alexander’s birthday is April 27, so only a couple of days shift was necessary to keep the Spring tradition alive. (Because April 27 was a Sunday this year, the celebration took place on April 26.)

Here are a few highlights from Amsterdam’s biggest party of the year.
