Today’s Waterlogue features two very wintry scenes straight from the Netherlands. The first is from a recent trip to Delft – my first, actually. Behind this brick façade sits the most Dutch shop I’ve ever come across. It sold Delft blue tiles and porcelain, Dutch clogs, sleds, and Dutch clogs, just to name a few of the items. What I loved most about the shop was the beautiful set up and authenticity of everything sold there. Nothing looks cheaply made, and it was clear that the owner took great pride in his shop.
The second image dates back to December 2010 when we were living three canals away, just near this beautiful scene. The view from Haarlemmerstraat down the Prinsengracht is one of the most picturesque in the city, and under snow at dusk, it was truly breathtaking.
