Falling Off Bicycles Valentine’s Day Inspiration

I’ve loved Valentine’s Day since I was a little girl. I think what I love is that it comes after (an often dreary) winter and feels like a ray of hope looking toward Spring with all the bright colors and flowers. 💐🌹

I’ve compiled a few colorful shots to share today to commemorate this love-filled day. Enjoy❣️

Looking for a unique road trip route through France? I took a 2-week road trip through France for the second year in a row this past September and talk all about it in the FREE online magazine Insiders Abroad! I share some of my favorite locations, as well as some tips and tricks for surviving the French road trip (look out for those tolls!). Check it out by clicking on the magazine cover above.

Photos shared in the article are available in my Etsy shop, here.

Foggy Amsterdam Morning

Paris photo for sale, Amsterdam photography, Netherlands photo, Julia Willard, Julie Willard, Falling Off Bicycles, fall photography

It’s not every day you have the streets lining Amsterdam’s famous canals all to yourself. This autumn morning, I rose early with the hopes of getting a few canal reflection shots. To my surprise, it was a very foggy morning, so the reflections weren’t so easy to get, but the fog that enveloped the bridges plus the quietness of the morning made for quite an incredible atmosphere. I didn’t mind a bit when this man cycled into my shot; I love the movement his presence brings against a backdrop of pure stillness.

Amsterdam again this Waterlogue Wednesday. The name Falling Off Bicycles didn’t pop out of nowhere. Nope, it came to me one day when I was living in Amsterdam. I was doing a lot of soul-searching at that time, as well as a lot of writing. I was so inspired by all the charming scenes of bikes parked in front of cute scenes, I had decided to shoot them and create a site to share them. I didn’t know at that time what purpose these hundreds of photos would serve and how they would end up inspiring me to create a travel photography business eventually. Since that time six years ago, I haven’t been able to stop taking photos of parked bikes – in Amsterdam and elsewhere. I’ve since added bicycle photos from Paris, London, Rome, Gent, and many smaller cities. I have so many, I could never possibly share them all. So for now, please enjoy a few of my favorite recent ones. 😍
