This week I spent some time visiting a friend in The Hague. I had been once before last year and really loved it so I was eager to get back. We had one of the first beautiful days of the season to walk around and explore together. I really love this city that is full of history. I am interested in the city’s position as a home to the U.N.’s International Court of Justice as well as the International Criminal Court, so we visited the Peace Palace and what is essentially Embassy Row (Lange Voorhout) in front of which was a beautiful sea of crocus flowers in bloom welcoming the Spring season. There are so many beautiful buildings and façades in this city and we only scratched the surface. Looking forward to my next visit, hopefully this Spring.
Amsterdam is jam packed with bicycles… you probably knew that already. But until you’ve been to this glorious city, I’m not sure you can fully appreciate how many different ones there are. Indeed bike theft is pervasive in Amsterdam, so what better way to keep track of your fiets than to personalize it will a custom paint job, funky stickers, or even an etching or a quote? Unfortunately, I hadn’t done that yet by the time my basic black omafiets was stolen. But the creative people who have come up with these fun customizations were great inspiration for me when I was creating my logo. Stay tuned for how I came up with that design…
“The bicycle, the bicycle surely, should always be the vehicle of novelists and poets.”
